Agro-tourism trips to Eswatini: $3000

Tour information

Staying at the farm includes taking part in the activities that make it all work. These can include helping at our preschool permaculture classes, planting and harvesting in the gardens, feeding animals, and taking part in classes about permaculture, traditional Swazi medicinal herbs, and Swazi culture. 

Course description

During your stay you’ll take part in a full permaculture design course, which will cover how to design natural cultivation systems in both tropical and cold-weather climates. The course will focus on:

• Permaculture ethics

• Recycling

• Creating healthy soil through composting

• Understanding aquaculture through aquaponic systems

• Learning about eco-villages and the design of sustainable living structures, including cob buildings and beehive huts

• Preserving food

• Energy-conserving technology

• Studying classical landscape profiles

• Community economics

Accommodations:

10 nights staying at Sani Farms, a permaculture farm in Eswatini, with your host. Each person will be paired with a roommate for the duration of the stay.

Transportation:

A shuttle will be provided for transport to and from OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg on the scheduled date of arrival. If you arrive before or after the designated group pick up date, you’ll be responsible for your own accommodations and transport to Swaziland. A private coach will be provided for trips to tour sites around Swaziland.

Meals:

You’ll enjoy food that’s grown and prepared locally, and right on the farm. Two to three meals a day are included; meals will be a combination of dining on-farm, in local restaurants, and at host homes.

Included:

Permaculture site and farm visits, accommodation, transportation, meals, and cultural and safari tours. Professional tour guide with agricultural experience.

Not Included:

Airfare, host & driver tips, passport fees, transportation to extracurricular activities, travel insurance/visa fees, souvenirs, alcoholic beverages (some may be offered during your stay)
