The Extraordinary Resurrection plants.

Our ancestors discovered the power of many healing herbs including Myrothamnus Flabellifolia plant also known as resurrection plant/ Vuka in native Siswati language). The plant appears to die completely during a drought, and the leaves appear black and parched. when it rains, a miracle happens, the plant revives in a few hours and its leaves become lush and green again. A marvel of nature! Scientists have examined the plant's ability to rehydrate and rejuvenate itself in order to determine its possible use as a cosmetic component. Clinical studies show that 3,4,5-tri-O-galloylquinic acid, a polyphenolic tannin, and a disaccharide (trehalose) combine to quickly hydrate the skin and prevent desiccation. Trehalose is associated with anhydrobiosis, the process by which plants are able to withstand prolonged desiccation because of their potent capacity to retain water.
